Domestic High-Performance Fiber Expects an Annual Capacity of 160,000 tons in 2015
The Twelfth Five-Year plan estimated a 160,000-ton annual capacity of domestic high- performance fiber by 2015, of which carbon fiber accounting for 20,000 tons, aramid fiber 15,000 tons, PPS 20,000 tons, UHMWPE 20,000 tons, PI 3000 tons, basfiber 6,000-10,000 tons, PVA 60,000-80,000 tons. And at that time, China’s will secure itself a top ranking at the world high-performance fiber industry.
High-performance fiber is a concern of national security, an indication of national strength. Its development, though has evolved into stability, is still hindered by such impediments as insufficient investment and technological difficulties, demanding further endeavors in the twelfth five year.
